Shanghai, China

Shanghai is known as the gateway to the Yangzte River. River traffic never stops and it never ceases to amaze us how the ships navigate the narrow waters without incident. Lots of horn honking, however. We arrived on the evening of March 5 and decided to wait until the next day to go out and about. The weather was a chilly 37 degrees. We took a cab to the infamous TaoBao building......home of the "knock off" everything. Two hours of serious shopping and it was time to head back to the ship.
Our evening was spent at a special event called "Fashion Show at 3 on the Bund", a newly renovated building. It was a lovely event with wine, snacks, and fashions from around the Asian regions. Very colorful costumes and lots of beautiful ladies and a few handsome men. Upon our return to the ship, we headed up to the Observation Lounge and watched a great fireworks show. Our 3rd day will be spent going to the Chinese Acrobats at the Portman Ritz Carlton Hotel.
