Singapore

We had a wonderful two days in Singapore. Since we have been here several times, we opted to go to Chinatown and browse. The weather was great, as it usually rains, so off we went in a taxi. We walked the many streets and looked at all the fun stuff. Sale signs boasted everything 3 for $10.00. That worked out to about $7.50 US. Door hanging/tassels were everywhere, so the cabin doors are highly decorated. We stopped at a sidewalk cafe for a Tiger Beer. Tasted cold and wet.
Our tour the next day took us to the famous and beautiful Raffles Hotel. We went up to the Long Bar for the complimentary Singapore Sling and peanuts. You just throw the shells right on the floor. The stores at the hotel are upscale.....e.g. Tiffany's and Jim Thompson. We also enjoyed a bumboat ride along the river. The symbol of the city is the Merlion......half lion, half fish. A great visit to a very clean, organized and energized city.
